FAQ
What counts as a storm?
Snowfall that stacks up to at least 2 inches. That's when we offer plowing, and each plow is a single fee per property. If a storm brings less than 2 inches of snow, your booking is canceled and you get a full refund.
When do you plow?
Every booking is plowed after the snow stops, first thing in the morning.
Do I need to be home?
No. You don't need to be home.
What if a car is parked in my driveway?
We don't plow driveways with a car parked in them. We clear the entire driveway, not just around a car, and we won't risk hitting a vehicle with the blade. Please move cars before plow day.
Will the plow damage my concrete or landscaping?
The plow won't damage concrete. We make every effort to keep the blade off sprinklers, lawns, and landscaping, and marking your landscaping edges makes them even easier to avoid.
Do you use salt?
No. Star Plow does bulk plowing only, with no salt.
Will every bit of snow be gone?
We clear the bulk of the snow with the plow, so a thin layer may be left on the concrete. The next time the sun comes out, that thin layer melts and the concrete clears on its own.
Where does the snow go?
We push driveway snow sideways into your side yard, never into the street or onto the sidewalk. That's the proper way to do it per the Ada County Highway District (ACHD), which asks residents and contractors not to push snow into the street because it can block storm drains and create hazards for drivers and pedestrians.
Why are sidewalks done first?
Clearing sidewalks first is the most efficient way to work the neighborhood. Everyone gets safe walkways fast, and then we move on to driveways.
Do you clear the berm the city plow leaves?
Yes. When the city plows your street, we'll do our best to level the berm at the end of your driveway. We angle that snow into your front side yard, so no berm is left blocking your driveway.
What if it keeps snowing after you plow?
Each plow is a separate visit and a separate charge.
Do you clear walkways to the front door, porches, or steps?
Not at this time. We clear sidewalks and driveways.
What areas do you serve?
Trident Ridge, Greendale Grove (including Greendale Grove North), and Collina Vista.
Can I sign up for a per-storm subscription?
Coming soon: sign up once and we'll plow automatically every storm, charged per storm. One less thing on your plate.
Are you insured?
Yes.
How do I pay?
Online, when you book. If a storm is too light to plow, you get a full refund.
